Being an upstander means having compassion towards our peers who have (2) bullied. When we put (3) in someone else's shoes, we would then realise that we would not want to be teased or excluded. Hence, all of us should look out for one another and (4) no one gets hurt. Like a superhero without a cape, upstanders speak (5) when they recognise that something is not right. (6) from noticing wrongdoings, upstanders take action to make things right.
On the other hand, bystanders usually do not take action due to their fear of being the next victim of bullying. They also may not know (7) to manage the situation. Hence, bystanders merely observe events and situations (8) interfering while upstanders will report wrongdoings and offer support to victims of bullying. We should therefore always choose to help the victims.
It (9) courage to be an upstander. I remember a time when I saw a classmate crying after being teased during recess. (10) of just watching, I walked over to sit with him and comforted him. Later, I (11) my teacher about the incident. That courageous (12) not only made a difference to my classmate but it also inspired others to do the same.
We create a ripple (13) when we are upstanders. Know that you are not alone as when others see you being an upstander, they will (14) suit. By supporting each other, we (15) create a caring community. Together, we can make a significant difference.
