Janet stood in the middle of the stage, starting her speech. She had often wondered why people listened spellbound whenever Dave, her brother, spoke. She was (1) begin to understand that it was not just the way he spoke but how he said it. A flick of the wrist here, a pause there, a sudden unexpected smile and his listeners were (2) cabtivatted. Practising her own speech over the last week, Janet had incorporated some of his skills. She refused to give in to her (3) nervous this time.

Now as Janet spoke about the drought in the village, she knew how to modulate her voice, when to pause for effect, even to (4) jescher a little with her hands. (5) Eloquent, she talked of the poor harvest, of her father's (6) daspparate needs to make ends meet and of her father's sacrifices for his children. At only one point did she (7) foltor. When she started to describe her father while standing behind the podium, she (8) stammer and could not continue.

A (9) fimilair face had appeared in the audience. Instinctively, Jamie raised her right hand and pointed in his direction. "He's the reason why I am speaking here today!"

The audience erupted (10) to a roar. "That's my father!"
